Always upbeat, always danceable, moving people – this is the style of La Sonia from Frankfurt. She plays traditional tango music in tandas with cortinas, centered on the great orchestras of the Golden Age, interspersed every now and then with evocative modern ones.
“I want people to have fun when I DJ, I want them to be happy and I want them to dance the night away“.
“My music is rhythmic, romantic and dramatic but always upbeat and always danceable, moving people”.
La Sonia is a regular at festivals like Tango Fest Dresden and Tangofeuerwerk Dresden as well as one of three resident DJ’s in Frankfurt’s local Tangobar Höchst and a welcome guest-DJ at milongas, festivals and marathons in Germany and Europe. And now she is going back to Hell, DJ-ing once more at Norway’s hottest new festival – after their successful double-debut in 2019. Let’s go break some ice!
Already from the beginning, when I started dancing tango, I was fascinated by the music. My first DJ-job was in 2007 and since then I was stuck. I’m playing regularly at milonga La Barranca in Linköping, but also at different venues in Sweden and Norway. I play classical tango music from the 20s to the 40s with cortinas. The music is of course prepared before the milonga, but I make the final playlist along the way. Every milonga is unique with its flow, rhytm and taste! This is my second performance in Hell.
