  • The connection and perception of the other, towards a mutual adjustment.
  • Advantages and disadvantages of body posture
  • The pause, its sense, its value and its invisible content. Why and how to make it.
  • The typical tango figures and unique ways of expression from the interpreter
  • Notion of different tango styles and own style
  • Secrets on the dancefloor: tips for leaders & followers
Wednesday Practica Stjørdal, Kimen kulturhus 1930-2000 Free class (ordinary practica fee): The Connection in Tango (short version)

  • The embrace. Fit together, lining up, with or without torsion.
  • Exercises to work with a partner.
  • Levels of connection. The feeling.
  • How to induce and improve the connection.
  • Points of contacts and how we use it.

Friday Tangohuset 1930-2100 Improvisation (Structure/How to break the structure and find new possibilities)

  • The subject is to look for different options from some specific movements and work with peculiar guidelines to grow up the personal creativity.

  • Creativity in tango figures and ways to interpret them
  • Conscious and unconscious repetition
  • Good and bad habits
  • How to surprise and get surprised on the dancefloor
  • Starting from known foundation, we will explore personal possibilities
Friday Tangohuset 2100-0000 Milonga
Saturday Tangohuset 1200-1400 Women’s technique part 1 – devoted to the individual movements and techniques.

  • Introducing ornaments.
  • Mastering body alignment and balance
  • The elegance of feet and how to use them
  • Axis and movement
  • Walking possibilities and its applications when dancing
  • Practice of torsion and dissociation
  • We will do exercise about: lining up, work with the axis, balance, walking energy, leg rotation, block movements, circular movements, introduction of spiral technique, dissociation, pivot, use of free leg and ornaments possibilities.
  • The creation of space to embellishments
  • Possibilities of the free and the base leg
  • Ornament practice in different situations during the dance.
  • At the end, we will recap all the exercises doing a sequence to practice that.
Saturday Tangohuset 1430-1600 Musicality part 1 – Treating moments in the music differently

  • Understanding and discriminating among different types of atmosphere, musical resources, musical structure, melodic lines, melodic effects.
  • Analysis of the technical and expressive part of music
  • Perception of music as an inspiration to dance
  • Identification of musical movements with body movement
Saturday Tangohuset 2100-0000 Milonga
Sunday Tangohuset 1200-1400 Women’s technique part 2 – focusing on sensing of the partner and what we can produce in them.

  • Embrace language and the perception of the couple
  • We will try to understand the tango dance as a mutual and continuous cause-consequence between two dancers.
  • We will focus more in the upper body (as the generator of the dance) and we will present the ornaments in the embrace (how to communicate them and how to do it without consequences).
  • We will practice pivot, rotation, over rotation, against movements, boleos and ornaments.
  • Movement in relation to the musical dynamics
  • Staccato and legato ornaments
  • The creation of space to embellishments
  • Possibilities of the free and the base leg
  • Ornament practice in different situations during the dance
  • We will touch up: tempo, rhythm, melody, different instruments, relationships with the movements.  Cut off movements, legato movements and its application in the ornaments. Wide view of tango traditional orchestras.
  • To finish: overview of all, doing a musical sequence with ornament and musical interpretation.
